Confidence-building march taken out by police in Hubli

SENDING A MESSAGE: Police personnel, led by Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani and other senior officials, conducting the route march in Hubli on Tuesday.

HUBLI: As part of a confidence building measure among residents the annual route march of the police was conducted here on Tuesday in the wake of "Ranga Panchami" being celebrated in the city on Wednesday.

The route march that began from the City Armed Reserve Ground, passed through Hanumantha Devara Gudi, Chatnimath Cross, Channapet Main Road, Old Hubli Durgadabail, New English School, Old P.B. Road, Kamaripet, Jai Bharat Circle, Tulaja Bhavani Circle, Durgadabail, Maratha Galli, Bandiwada Base, Ganeshpet, Dajibanpet and returned to its starting point.

Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani and Deputy Commissioners of Police D. Prakash and R. Dileep along with other senior police officials led the route march, and covered the entire route on foot.

The route march is an annual exercise undertaken by the police on the eve of Ranga Panchami, which the police term as an exercise to assure the common people that they will protect them, prevent any untoward incident and convey a strong message to unlawful elements.

The Police Commissionerate has made elaborate security arrangements in the city. Additional forces have been deployed at sensitive places and places of religious importance are heavily guarded.

The Commissioner has also clarified that there would no change in route of procession for Holi celebrations and police would not allow any last minute deviation in the route.

The Police Commissioner has appealed to the people to cooperate with the police in ensuring peaceful Holi celebrations. The Commissioner has warned revellers against forcefully collecting donations from the people .

Youths riding motorcycles in an erratic way after removing the silencers of their vehicles will be dealt with strictly. Prohibitory orders

As a precautionary measure prohibitory orders will be in force on March 7 from 6 a.m. to midnight in the following areas:

Kalammana Agasi to Dakappa Circle-Mullana Oni Mosque Road; Dakappa Circle to Kaulpet Mosque; Kaulpet to KEB Office Cross; Sadarsofa Bridge to Mastansofa Cross and Narayana Sofa Shankarlinga Cross to Kasabapet Main Road. The sale of liquor has been banned from 6 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday and the Police Commissioner has ordered for closure of liquor shops, bar and restaurants on Wednesday.
