APCLC condemns encounter

Staff Reporter

Rajahmundry: The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee(APCLC) has condemned the Marrigudem encounter, in which three Maoists were killed.

The fact-finding committee members -- V. Chittibabu, State vice-president of the APCLC N. Madhusudhana Rao, secretary, East Godavari, K. Rama, G. Manohar, P. Chandrasekhar and Gnananandam (Vizag) visited Marrigudem village, encounter site, and met villagers.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Press Club, the committee members said that the incident which took place on April 2 was not an encounter and the three Maoists were brought to the site one day before and were shot dead by the police. They said that there was clear-cut evidence on the bodies of the three Maoists that the uniforms of the dead were not of their size and bullet injuries clearly showed that they were killed at point blank range.

They also alleged that the arms recovered from the dead were also showed that had not been used for the last few months.

The APCLC demanded that the encounter be booked under CRPC 302 case.
