HYDERABAD: State BJP president B. Dattatreya on Tuesday said the delimitation process amounted to a `colossal atrocity' against the SCs and STs and demanded resignation of all associate members of the Delimitation Commission from the State. In his 36th `open letter' to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said the ST Assembly seats and SC and ST Lok Sabha seats had not been rationally distributed, as per the Delimitation Act. The "incorrect location" of the Assembly seats had given scope for the concept of "gerrymandering" of the delimitation process, he said. He said the SC and ST Lok Sabha seats had been proposed to suit the interests of the Congress representatives in the Lok Sabha and to the detriment of the Opposition. The commission had `distinguished' and `discriminated' between areas and people based on voting preferences and violated Article 14. Mr. Dattatreya alleged that the delimitation in the Hyderabad had been done on a "communal basis" to help the MIM. He urged Dr. Reddy, the TDP and TRS leaders to seek resignation of their respective associate members from the commission.
