HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Village Servants' Association has threatened to launch an indefinite strike from March 21 if the Government fails to concede the demands put forth by them. The indefinite strike will be preceded by rasta rokos all over the State on March 9. The association members took out a rally on Tuesday in support of their eight major demands. The demands included hike in honorarium from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 3,000, hike in dearness allowance from Rs. 25 to Rs. 50, appointment of eligible senior village servants as village revenue officers and amendments in the service rules.
Meanwhile, the Government invited association representatives for talks following the resentment expressed by the Opposition parties in the Assembly. Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao who held the talks promised that three demands, including the appointment of eligible village servants as village revenue officers, would be considered. The talks remained inconclusive and the second round would be held shortly.
