DEMANDING A BAN: Members of the All India Democratic Youth Organisation staging a `rasta roko' in Gulbarga on Tuesday demanding a ban on online lotteries in the State.
GULBARGA: The All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) staged a "rasta roko" for over an hour at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Chowk here demanding that the Government impose a ban on online lotteries in the State immediately. Members of the AIDYO, who formed a human chain around the busy Sardar Vallabhai Patel Chowk, shouted slogans against the Government for "going back" on its assurance to ban online lotteries, and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was a partner in the ruling coalition, had agitated against these lotteries when it had been in the Opposition. They alleged that BJP leaders had also accused the former S.M. Krishna Government of using the "ill-gotten" money from the lottery business for developmental activities, including the mid-day meal scheme for schoolchildren.
