BANGALORE: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has said the State Budget 2007-08, which he will present on March 16, will be a "poor and middle-class friendly" one, without any additional tax burden.

Speaking at the function to launch the Suryanagar and Kengeri projects of the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB), Mr. Yediyurappa said the Budget, which will be his second, would disappoint his critics who have been making light of the Government's efforts to address the problems of the poor even while ensuring allocation for developmental projects.

He urged the KHB to acquire 600 acres of land on the outskirts of Bangalore to provide housing for the poor.
