Revenue officials of Medak told to prepare list

  • Government employees who violate Assigned Land Act to be prosecuted
  • Action to be taken against financial institutions that allow mortgage on assigned lands

Sangareddy: Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam has warned those who are in possession of assigned land to surrender it before April 28, 2007 or to face action. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Collector, armed with Act 8 of 2007, an amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Land Act of 1977 said that those who declare the details of assigned land under their possession within 90 days would be spared. He said that all revenue officials of the district were told to prepare list of such land and hand it over to the concerned registrar offices within March 14 so that the problem of registration of assigned land could be curbed. He warned that Criminal prosecution could be initiated on those Government employees who violate the Act.

    Cancellation begins

The Collector announced that action under the Act has been initiated in 11 mandals adjacent to twin cities. According to him, registration of 50 acres of assigned land in Aminpur, which was sold illegally, 75 acres of land in survey numbers 1171 and 1071 again in Aminpur and 700 acres of Inam land in Edulanagulapalli, has been cancelled. The Collector warned that action could even be initiated on financial institutions that allow mortgage on such assigned lands. With data pouring in from all three divisions on the extent of assigned land registered in different registrar offices in the district, the administration is facing a daunting task of recovering the assigned land.
