Traffic on Hunsur Road to be diverted

Railway overbridge to be widened; restrictions from today


  • Nine bus-bays built, 11 more proposed
  • Work on 20 bus shelters under progress

    MYSORE: Traffic on the busy Hunsur Road here will be diverted from Wednesday, following widening of the railway overbridge near Kalamandira in view of the construction of four-lane highway between Mysore and Bantwal.

    The Mysore City Traffic police said that traffic would be diverted via an alternative route until the work on the bridge was completed.

    A press release from the office of the Police Commissioner said, vehicles on way to Hunsur should proceed straight from Metropole Circle to Dasappa Circle, take left to KRS Road, pass through Kalidasa Road and Valmiki Road to join Hunsur Road. Likewise, vehicles coming to city on Hunsur Road should take a right turn near Kalamandira, proceed on Bogadi Road, Government Press, Fire Brigade, take left and move through Ekalavya Circle near the hostel of Maharaja's College.

    The Mysore city Traffic Police have chalked out several measures to streamline traffic management to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

    More bus-bays would be constructed in the city in association with KSRTC, Bangalore division. Bus-bays had been constructed at Chennaiah Circle, Fire Brigade, Ramaswamy Circle, Siddappa Square, opposite DFRL, Lalitha Mahal Road, Chamundi Hill Road, Akashwani Circle and Metagalli-KRS Road. Eleven more bus-bays would be built, according to Police Commissioner Praveen Sood.

    Construction work on 20 new bus shelters with the support of Mysore City Police, was also under progress.

    According to the police, the `Wheel Watch' programme launched to educate public, especially students, on road safety had also received good response.

    In the previous week, the programme had been successfully organised at GSS Women's Engineering College, Vidya Vikas Engineering College, SJCE College, Teresian College, Hindustan Lever Limited and Rolan Chain Factory.

    On every Sunday, for the benefit of public, road awareness programmes are organised at Balarama Gate at the Palace and Kukkarahalli Lake in Saraswathipuram.
