SCOPE award for Power Grid CMD

NEW DELHI: R. P. Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation, has been selected for the SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Public Sector Management in the individual category for 2005-06. The award is in recognition of his leadership qualities and contribution towards the growth of Power Grid as well as the power sector.

The award will be presented by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Conference of Chief Executives of Public Sector Enterprises here on Thursday.

Delhi Plan outlay welcomed

NEW DELHI: Delhi Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Prem Singh has welcomed the Planning Commission's decision approving an outlay of Rs.9,000 crore for the city's development under the annual Plan.

In a statement, Mr. Singh also thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia for giving such a handsome package to Delhiites.

New voter centre commissioned

NEW DELHI: A new Voter Registration and Electors' Photo Identity Cards Centre (VREC) has been commissioned in the 61 Timarpur Assembly constituency here. This is part of the initiative taken by the State Election Office to make election-related facilities accessible to citizens.

About 70 VRECs would be opened in the Capital in the coming months.

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Satbir Silas Bedi said citizens could get their names included in the electoral rolls, correct any incorrect entry and get electors' photo identity card prepared and issued.

New CEO for NDPL

NEW DELHI: North Delhi Power Limited has appointed Sunil Wadhwa as its Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director. He has been on the NDPL Board as Executive Director since November 1, 2005, as a Tata Power nominee.

His predecessor Anil Kumar Sardana has been appointed Executive Director on the Board of Tata Power and has stepped down as Managing Director of NDPL. Mr. Sardana will, however, continue as member of the NDPL Board as Non-Executive Director.

Mr. Wadhwa, an alumnus of Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce, is a qualified chartered accountant and company secretary.
