Coastal Security Group continues coastal patrolling activity

CHENNAI: A team of police officers, led by the Inspector General of Police, Coastal Security Group, Karan Singha, patrolled several coastal areas and fishing villages in Ramanathapuram district for the second day on Tuesday.

The exercise was to intensify intelligence gathering by the CSG personnel in the coastal villages and maintain a surveillance on all landing points, and on those who were indulging in smuggling activities in the past, Additional Director-General of Police, Coastal Security Group, Jagan Seshadri, on whose instructions the patrolling was undertaken, said.

The police wanted to verify information about the possibility of smuggling from Dhanushkodi, near Rameswaram.
