Control prices of drugs, CPI tells Government

CHENNAI : The Communist Party of India has urged the State Government to control the spiralling prices of essential drugs in Tamil Nadu.

A resolution was adopted at the State Committee meeting of the party, addressed by State secretary Tha. Pandian here on March 4.

A resolution said prices of drugs meant for persons suffering from heart ailments and diabetes had risen to 65 per cent.

The increase had shocked people who had been assured that the prices of essential drugs would come down under the VAT regime, the resolution added.
