Vijayawada: The condition of Narmada, wife of Ramdas Deendayal Prasad, who allegedly stifled his two children to death and attempted to kill her, is said to be `stable' and she is expected to regain consciousness in 24 hours. Narmada, who was found in a pool of blood in her apartment on Monday, was on the ventilator in a private hospital near Police Control Room (PCR) since Monday evening. The doctors were treating her with antibiotics for the wound she sustained on the head. They said they could not find any sign of brain haemorrhage or clotting of the blood or fractures. A complete picture would emerge only when she regained consciousness, hospital director (clinical services) P. Guru Prasad said. According to Dr. Prasad, the CT scan and other tests did not point to any injuries on the skull or brain. However, a cut on the skin of her face had led to loss of blood. She became unconscious due to hypoxia, which literally meant less oxygen supply. Narmada's mother, Kanaka Durga, and other family members thronged the hospital. The relatives eagerly waited outside the hospital to have glimpse of their beloved one, who was battling for life at the ICU. The Machavaram police posted a constable outside the ICU round the clock. City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, when contacted, said that the police were on the lookout for Prasad.
