HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), along with the Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) and the Oxfam GB, kick-started a two-day workshop on workplace interventions on HIV/AIDS here on Tuesday. APSACS project director G. Asok Kumar, speaking on the occasion, said, the industry had a key role to respond to the epidemic as part of their business plans. In an effort to spearhead workplace interventions, a rapid situational assessment was conducted across 13 States in the country. The findings of the study and experiences of some industries that had initiated workplace initiations were being studied by APSACS, he said.
Implementation
Pointing out that the road ahead would be make line managers and trade unions accountable for effective implementation and prevention of the epidemic, Mr. Kumar said HR, Health and Welfare Departments could be a support to this process. Rajiv Dua of Oxfam GB, HLFPPT Social Consulting head Sanjeev Kumar and others also spoke.
