Fire force comes to student's rescue

Thiruvananthapuram: The Fire and Rescue Services on Tuesday rescued a student whose left leg got trapped in a partially covered drain in front of a house at Vazhuthacaud on Tuesday afternoon.

An official said the owner of the house had placed iron pipes in a spaced manner on top of the drain to discourage cattle from straying into his compound. The student, Sabari, of Rema Manzil, Poojappura, got trapped accidentally when he stepped on the covering to avoid a passing car.

Firemen from the Chengalchoola station used gas cutters to get Sabari out of the metal trap. He was rushed to General Hospital.
