NEW DELHI: Two computer science graduates who allegedly snatched the bag of an Australian woman containing jewellery and Rs.70,000 in cash at Nabi Karim here last month have been arrested.

Saral Nathenail, an Australian national of Indian origin, and her cousin Prashant Josef arrived at New Delhi railway station from Kanpur on February 26.

They were on their way to Chanchal Hotel at Nabi Karim in a cycle-rickshaw when two young men on a motorcycle snatched the leather bag of Saral. She raised an alarm but the culprits managed to flee.

The leather bag contained gold and diamond jewellery, a mobile phone, a credit card, and some dollars.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of snatching and launched a hunt for the culprits. Through technical surveillance, they zeroed in on the suspects.

They were identified as Ramnik and Mukul Kaushal, both residing at Malviya Nagar. The police recovered most of the stolen articles from their possession, after which they were arrested. A motorcycle they had bought from the stolen money was also seized.
