A new lease of life for boy from Pakistan

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Ten-year-old Naved from Pakistan, who was deaf and dumb since birth, has been given a new lease of life by LNJP Hospital doctors here who successfully performed a cochlear implant on him. Upon returning home, Naved would now be able to attend a normal school instead of the special one he had been going to all this while. The turnaround in Naved's life came after doctors at LNJP Hospital diagnosed his problem and found the right solution for it. Naved was subsequently operated by Dr. A.K. Aggarwal and his team and a cochlear device was implanted.

His parents, who hail from Multan, are delighted at their child's progress since the operation. They are now eagerly awaiting for him to speak. As Naved would be able to listen and subsequently speak normally, his parents now see a bright future ahead for him. As a token of thanksgiving, Naved's parents on Tuesday called on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to express their gratitude towards the Delhi Government. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dikshit lauded the efforts of the surgeons and expressed her pleasure at the fact that Naved's life has now changed for the better.

She also declared that the Delhi Government would continue to provide suitable facilities for treatment of patients coming from the neighbouring countries.
