Two arrested for alleged theft

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested at New Delhi railway station here for allegedly stealing the luggage of passengers after drugging them.

Naushad Alam and Mohammad Naseem, both residents of Bihar, were arrested on Monday while they were allegedly trying to make off with the luggage of some passengers at the New Delhi railway station.

According to the police, the two befriended five persons at the railway station and then offered them tea laced with sedatives. Four of them fell unconscious after sipping the tea. But one Anil Paswan, who refused to consume the tea, raised an alarm when the duo tried to flee with their luggage.

Young man held for auto-theft

NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly involved in over half-a-dozen cases of auto-theft has been arrested at Saraswati Vihar here.

According to the police, a team was conducting routine check of vehicles on Chander Shekhar Azad Road over the weekend when it signalled a vehicle coming from Deepali Chowk to stop. However, the driver tried to speed away. He was caught at the next barricade.

During interrogation, the accused, Ashok Kumar, purportedly confessed to his involvement in several cases of auto-theft.

Two arrested for alleged burglary

NEW DELHI: Two young men allegedly involved in several cases of burglary have been arrested at Bahubali Park in East Delhi.

According to the police, the accused, Hans Raj and Sanjay Luhar, were arrested over the weekend while they were loitering about suspiciously in the area. An iron rod and a knife were seized from them, the police said.

During interrogation, the two purportedly confessed to their involvement in several cases of burglary in the past three years.

French woman found dead

NEW DELHI: A French woman was found dead in her residence in the Capital, police said on Tuesday.

Anna Fatalgo, aged 40 years, was found dead in her East Nizamuddin residence, apparently having consumed some poisonous substance, they said.

A suicide note left by her said that she was under depression due to death of her Indian husband a year ago, they said.
