"Hard work is the key to success"

Students must make themselves employable by developing their soft skills and communication skills and tap job opportunities available in various sectors, according to K. Thyagarajah, principal, P.S.N.A. College of Engineering and Technology, at the College Day celebrations at M.V.M. Women's Arts College in Dindigul recently. Self-confidence and hard work were the key to success, he said.

Professors G. Irene Nirmala and Regina Rodrigo, were honoured on the occasion. Principal L. Anjana presided. The students also celebrated `Muthamizh Vizha' at the college recently. A drama on life of Velu Nachiar, enacted by students was the star attraction.

Quality in education and skill development was essential to make students employable and the role of educational institutions in this regard was vital, said S.S. Udhayabaskaran, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, at the 51st College Day celebrations held at H.K.R.H. College in Uthamapalayam recently.

The college also celebrated Muthamizh vizha and Founder's Day.

A two-day State-level workshop on `Recent Trends in Feedforward Neural Networks - Back propagation algorithms' was conducted recently by V.H.N.S.N. College, Virudhunagar. Coordinated by T. Kathirvalavakumar, convenor of the workshop, professors from P.S.G. College of Technology, Coimbatore, S.N. Sivanandam and Pasumpon Pandian and B. Rajendran, Reader and Head, Department of Mathematics, Mepco Schlenk College, also took part. College president T.S. Sankaravel, vice-president A.V. Sujatha Vivekarajan, and secretary P.C.S. Govindarajaperumal, participated.

A national-level technical symposium on light and architecture was held at the Mohamed Sathak Engineering College, Kilakarai, recently. Hameed Abdul Khader and S.M. Kabir, Chairman and Correspondent of the college, Harris, Advisor, G. Jyothi Ram, architect, Chennai, and N. Ramalingam, Secretary, spoke. Vemuri Lakshmi Narayana, Principal, and V. Balakrishna, Dean participated.
