Anisha emerges winner in triple jump

NEW DELHI: Anisha K. Vijayan was just four centimetres off her meet record while winning the women's triple jump title on the third day of the all-India police athletics championships at the Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday. Anisha jumped 13.27 metres.

Ashiq Beewi completed a treble, winning the 400m hurdles gold in 1:01.19 to add to the 400 metres and 100m hurdles titles she had claimed earlier.

The results:

Men: 10,000m: 1. Upendra K. (CRPF) 30:40.37, 2. Madhusudan B. (CRPF) 30: 46.54, 3. Jagmal (BSF) 30:48.13; 110m hurdles: 1. Naunidh Singh (BSF) 14.43, 2. Harminder Singh (BSF) 14.72, 3. Gurinder Pal (Pun) 14.76.

Women: 800m: 1. Dipti C. (Assam) 2:15.11, 2. Linci K. P. (CRPF) 2:16.62, 3. Vahida Rehman (CRPF) 2:18.37; 5000m: 1. Asha Rani (Pun) 17:43.35, 2. H. Jibolata Devi (CRPF) 17:48.65, 3. Gita Rai (UP) 17:52.97; 400m hurdles: 1. Ashiq Beewi (CRPF) 1:01.19, 2. Sapinder Kaur (Pun) 1:02.56, 3. A. Papathi (TN) 1:04.41; Triple jump: 1. Anisha K. Vijayan (CRPF) 13.27, 2. Sapinderpal Kaur (Pun) 12.47, 3. Kulwinder Kaur (Pun) 12.36.
