Staff Correspondent

Preparations of district administration go in vain

  • Various groups had readied memoranda on district's problems
  • Roads to the venue were repaired and drains cleaned

Madikeri: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has failed to visit Kodagu yet again. After keeping everyone on tenterhooks on Tuesday evening, it was confirmed later that Mr. Kumaraswamy was not visiting Madikeri.

Various organisations were ready to present a plethora of memoranda to Mr. Kumaraswamy, on the problems of the district during his visit.

The district administration was in a state of confusion over the visit since it did not receive any official communication till late Tuesday.

However, the Public Works Department, which had distributed invitations listing the names of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and others, went ahead with the preparations at the venue, Gandhi Maidan. This is the second time in less than a month that Mr. Kumaraswamy failed to visit Kodagu. In February, he had backed out at the last moment from attending the Virajpet taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan.
