Sangareddy: The Medak police arrested Venkata Ramana, one of the three accused in the alleged attack on television crew on MNR Medical College premises. Speaking to reporters, Medak Superintendent of Police R.B. Naik said that Venkata Ramana, who has been working as a public relations officer for the college, was hiding in Hyderabad after the attack on last Friday. The SP said that search was on to nab other suspects too. Venkata Ramana said that he knew nothing about the alleged attack on the television crew. He said that he left for Hyderabad, alarmed over finding his name as one of the accused in the scrolls of television channels. He decided to return to the town after failing to contact his higher officials. However he was unable to answer questions regarding how the television crew confirmed that he was the one who handed them over to the other two accused on the pretext of setting up of an interview.
Students' petition
Meanwhile a delegation of students and teachers of the Medical College met Joint Collector Vani Mohan on Wednesday. They submitted a memorandum to her stating that they faced no such problems in the college as reported in the media. They requested the Joint Collector to forward their stance to the Government. A group of activists from Students Federation of India and Telangana Rastra Samithi's local unit also submitted a memorandum to the Joint Collector demanding an investigation on the alleged illegal activities of the MNR Medical College's management. District secretaries of both the units alleged that the management had forced its students and staff to sign the petition.
