Supporters of KPTCL worker storm TV channel office

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The office of a private TV news channel was stormed by supporters of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. employee in order to stop the telecast of a story accusing the employee of corruption on Wednesday.

The supporters of Chamapakadhama Swamy barged into the office and asked the channel's administration not to telecast the story at 6.30 p.m. In the story, it was alleged that Chamapakadhama Swamy had sold the land allotted for the housing of KPTCL employees to a private person. The supporters said a local court had granted a stay.

As the supporters did not show any copy of the stay order, the channel refused to stop the telecast. The supporters then manhandled the director of the channel S. Mahendra Mishra, production head Ravikumar, and a few reporters and staff.

The Ulsoor gate police arrested nine persons, including Champakadhama Swamy.
