Celebrating womanhood

BANGALORE: As the International Women's Day was celebrated world over on Thursday, the Department of Posts celebrated it in a unique manner by releasing a set of four stamps portraying woman in her role as nurturer and preserver.

Judge of Karnataka High Court, Manjula Chellur, on Thursday, released the stamps. The designs on the stamps and first day cover are based on the paintings of artiste Jayashri Burman, while the cancellation cachet has been designed by Alka Sharma.

The stamps are in the denomination of Rs. 15 and Rs. 5.
