KADAPA: Students should strive with grit and determination to achieve set goals and also take up sports and yoga for physical fitness and mental agility, Joint Collector Kanthilal Dande said on Wednesday. Sports would infuse confidence among students, he said in the valedictory function of 19th Sports Meet at Pushpagiri School here. The mindset of parents should change and they should encourage children to participate in sports activities besides education, he said. Foreigners were practicing yoga vigorously, but students lacked awareness on its importance, he said.
Pat for students
Mr. Dande complimented Pushpagiri school students, K. Prabhakar and M. Prema Sruthi, who won Frisbee Tournament in Nepal, under-14 hockey player Ameer Khan and ranker in Karnataka Maths Olympiad Anusha. School director M. Vivekananda Reddy, who presided, said 700 students took part in the sports meet and 242 of them won prizes. Mr. Dande gave away prizes to students. Principals Siva Kumar, Vinay and Girija participated.
