Corrections and Clarifications

In a report "`400-year-old Koran,' painting seized" (March 8, 2007), the strapline was: "[Archaeological Survey of India] ASI's help sought to ascertain claim whether it was returned by Emperor Aurangzeb". It should have been "ASI's help sought to ascertain claim whether it was written by Emperor Aurangzeb", as stated in the text.

A heading should have been "VAT will not lead to price rise: Minister", and not price raise (Chennai city, March 8, 2007, page 5).

In The Hindu Crossword 8854 (March 7, 2007), clue 6 Down was "Male bird is inordinately proud, says the helmsman". The solution (March 8, 2007) was "Cockswain", which is incorrect. It should have been "Coxswain", who is the person who steers a ship's boat, racing boat, or other boat; the helmsman and skipper of a lifeboat.
