Vinod Sridhar in last four

HYDERABAD: Top-seeded Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu moved into the semifinals after Das Kaushik of Assam conceded the match, trailing 2-3 in the first set of the Circars AITA men's ranking tennis tournament at Kakinada on Thursday.

Second-seeded J. Vishnuvardhan (AP) was more authoritative with a 6-2, 6-1 win against fifth-seeded N. Kiran Kumar of Karnataka to make it to the last four stage.

Kamala Kannan of Tamil Nadu shocked third-seeded P.C.Vignesh (AP) 6-2, 6-2 in another quarter-final.

V.M.Ranjeet of Tamil Nadu also entered the semi-final when Anshuman Dutta of Assam conceded the match after the scores were level at two-all in the first set.

In the doubles semi-final, Vinod Sridhar and V.M.Ranjeet downed a fighting J.Vishnuvardhan and P.C.Vignesh 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Other results: J. Vishnuvardhan (AP) bt N. Kiran Kumar (Kar) 6-2, 6-1; Kamala Kannan (TN) bt P.C. Vignesh (AP) 6-2, 6-2; V.M. Ranjeet (TN) bt Anshuman Dutta (Asm) 2-2 retired.

Doubles (Semifinals): Vinod Sridhar & V.M. Ranjeet bt J. Vishnuvardhan & P.C. Vignesh 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
