NEW DELHI: For the second day on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party raked up in the Lok Sabha the issue of the nationality of Congress member M. K. Subba and invited upon itself a reprimand from Speaker Somnath Chatterjee for pressuring him on the matter. BJP deputy leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra raised the issue soon after question hour. He pointed out that on an earlier occasion the cash-for-query scam members were asked to stay away from proceedings pending a decision. Drawing the Speaker's attention to the presence of Mr. Subba in the House, he said the same practice should be followed in this case also. As Ananth Kumar (BJP) pressed with the demand that Mr. Subba be asked to leave the House, the Speaker said the Opposition should give him more time to take a decision. Also, he was agitated over the manner in which the BJP was trying to impute motives. With the BJP keeping up pressure, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi intervened on Mr. Subba's behalf; asking "why should he not attend the House.''
