KADAPA: Zilla Parishad Chairperson D. Jyothi Reddy on Thursday stressed the need for promoting women's literacy from 57 per cent now to cent per cent, to ensure their all round progress. Speaking after inaugurating an Urdu Language and Mathematics Mela organised by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan at Police Parade Grounds here, she said women were joining the district and village samakhyas and women self-help groups and progressing by utilising bank loans. She went round 45 stalls, including stalls put up to display products made by women artisans, maths mela stalls and science museum .
Gain skills
The women artisans must gain skills in making products and market them effectively for developing economically, the ZP chief said. The science museum exhibits would help increase children's intellectual acumen. Parents should strive to educate their girl children, as it would also drive away gender bias, she said. Women should be accorded priority to improve their confidence levels.
