Two arrested on assault charge

KADAPA: Chinna Chowk police arrested two leaders of Autorickshaw Drivers' Union -- S.A. Sattar and Mohan -- on Wednesday on charges of assaulting Weights and Measures Inspector Ravi Kumar and Mahesh, a contract employee.

Alleging that Mahesh collected Rs. 400 for each auto meter seal but gave a receipt of only Rs. 50, Mr. Sattar and Mohan picked up a row and thrashed Mahesh, according to the police. Later, they allegedly dragged the Weights and Measures Inspector by his collar from his room. Chinna Chowk Sub-Inspector Vijayabhaskar Goud registered a case and arrested the two union leaders.
