Abraham, Hardeep set meet records

NEW DELHI: Joseph Abraham and Hardeep Kaur set meet records on the penultimate day of the 55th all-India Police athletics championships at the Nehru Stadium here on Thursday.

Abraham, National record holder in the 400m hurdles, clocked 51.15seconds while effortlessly winning the event and in the process bettered his own meet mark of 57.71s set in 2002.

Hardeep, also National record holder, threw the hammer to a distance of 59.20m while improving upon the meet record of Phool Pati which stood at 53.52m since 1999.

Ashiq Beewi continued to dominate winning her fourth title as she claimed the 200m gold in 24.60 seconds. She had earlier won the 400m, 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles titles.

High jump: 1. Vikul Tyagi (BSF) 2.05, 2. Langa Marandi (CRPF) 1.99, 3. Swapnil Sawant (Mah) 1.99.

Hammer: 1. Rakesh Kumar (UP) 63.50, 2. Harinder Singh (Pun) 61.02, 3. Kulwinder Singh (Pun) 60.96.

Javelin: 1. Umakant Tripathi (UP) 73.16, 2. Parag Jyoti (BSF) 71.48, 3. Ranjit Kumar (CRPF) 69.88.

4x100m: 1. BSF 41.17, 2. Punjab 41.60, 3. CRPF 41.82.

Women:

200m: 1. Ashiq Beewi (CRPF) 24.60, 2. K. Kasturi (TN) 24.72, 3. Navjot Kaur (Pun) 25.68.
