CHENNAI: U.K.-based Applied Language Solutions, a company engaged in providing translation work, has announced that it is setting up an office in Chennai. It has set in motion the process of registering an Indian subsidiary. Sarah Balmforth, Head (Corporate Projects), said Applied Language had picked India to make a foray into Asia since India was beginning to emerge as a dominant player in the global marketplace. The availability of high quality skilled workforce was an additional attraction to enter India, she added. A presence in Asia would give the company 24X7 option to serve its clients. The company would also use India as a software development base though currently, dot.net /software development work was done in Bulgaria. Applied Language with over 6,000 translators in over 150 languages could come in handy for companies going global. She said 30,000 translators (who are registered in its web site) were waiting to be approved.
