Wolf attack: 17 hurt

ADILABAD: Seventeen children in the age of 3 and 10 years were injured following an attack by two wolves in Bhainsa on Thursday. One of the wolves was killed by villagers. Eight of the injured were undergoing treatment in Bhainsa hospital. - Staff Reporter

Medico tries to end life

ANANTAPUR: A final year medical student attempted suicide by consuming poison at Anantapur on Thursday. According to reports, Yogendranath Choudary, who hailed from Guntakal, consumed poison. He was rushed to a hospital. Poor performance in education led to his extreme step, the police said. - Special Correspondent

YSR's directive

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday directed his Cabinet colleagues to undertake the third phase of `Prajapatham' from April 14 with focus on Dalit habitations. Supply of drinking water, fodder, power for irrigation and Indrimma scheme would get priority during the programme. Fatal fall for labourer

KADAPA: A labourer Chintakunta Padaraiah, engaged for APREGS work of desilting a tank, was killed when he slipped off the tractor he was travelling on near Tuvvapalle tank near Jandlavaram on Thursday. The police registered a case. - Staff Reporter

Bear mauls goat-rearer

KADAPA: A goat-rearer Gummadi Subhadramma (47) was severely injured when a bear attacked her in forest area near Muthukur in Atlur mandal on Wednesday. She was admitted to Badvel Government Hospital.

Awareness camp

NELLORE: An awareness camp will be conducted to sensitise voters on elections to the Legislative Council at DRDA office on Friday at 10 a.m., according to District Revenue Officer (DRO) B. L. Chennakesava Rao.

Legal Literacy Week

CHITTOOR: District judge K.S. Apparao inaugurated Legal Literacy Week for women here on Thursday on the premises of the district court. Besides, special Lok Adalats would be conducted to settle the cases pertaining to women.
