JAIPUR: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will help 1,000 tribal families in South Rajasthan district of Dungarpur to develop one acre orchards each with forestry species on the periphery of the land for seven years. The bank has sanctioned Rs.3.43 crores from Tribal Development Fund (TDF) for the project, which will be implemented in Bichchhiwara bloc with the managerial support of Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti. Chief General Manager NABARD R.Narayan said the focus of the programme would be "wadi" development with orchards of anola and fencing species, which would meet the requirement of fuel, fodder and timber. Development of water resources and soil conservation would also be taken up simultaneously, he informed. Mr.Narayan said this was the second project from NABARD under Tribal Development Programme in Rajasthan. The first programme supporting 1,000 families in selected villages in Udaipur district's Jhadol bloc started in April 2006.
