BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said here on Thursday that the nation building exercise would be incomplete without involving and respecting women. The Chief Minister was addressing a rally to mark the International Women's day in the State capital. He said that effective steps were being taken for the socio-economic uplift of women in Madhya Pradesh. Many programmes have been initiated to involve the participation of women in the development process, he said and went on to emphasise the point that 50 per cent posts in civic bodies were being reserved for women. Similarly, he said 50 per cent of the contractual teachers' posts were also being reserved for them. He said that under the "Ladli-Laksmi Yojna", the State Government would be taking Rs. 30, 000 development bonds on the birth of every girl child (there would be a limit of two girls in each family belonging to the deprived sections). This would be used for funding the education of girls, from primary to the college level, and ensuring that each of them gets Rs. 1 lakh in cash on attaining the age of 21. The Chief Minister said that a new Rani Durgawati Battalion was being formed and adequate posts were also being crated for women in the police force.
