BERHAMPUR: Some employees of the State Fisheries Department have not been receiving salary since 17 months as the Central Government-funded projects they are working for have been stopped. Most of them are Class IV employees who worked for Brackish Water Fisheries Development Agency (BWFDA) and Fish Farmers Development Agency (FFDA). As the State government stopped both the projects, no Central grant was available for payment of salary to employees. "The State government is making efforts to adjust some 150 employees in other sectors of the Fisheries Department," said Ganjam District Fisheries Officer Aniruddha Panigrahi. Those from Ganjam district who did not receive salary for more than a year demonstrated in front of the district fisheries office along with their family members demanding payment of salary as early as possible. Thy decided to stage a dharna in front of the district fisheries office if they were not paid salary in the coming 10 days.
