Principal arrested on cheating charge

Staff Reporter

He is accused of issuing forged admit cards for 21 students

BERHAMPUR: The police arrested principal of Hill Top College Bhagaban Bisoi at Mohana in Gajapati district on Wednesday on cheating charge. He was sent to R. Udaygiri jail as his bail petition was rejected.

He was accused of being responsible for the plight of some 21 students who could not appear for the board examination conducted by the CHSE this year. Authorities allegedly collected Rs. 675 from each of the 97 students but gave receipt for Rs. 525 only. But the amount was allegedly not deposited with the CHSE. Application forms and money of only 76 students were deposited with the council. As a result, admit cards were issued only for these students. To cover this up, Bisoi allegedly printed forged admit cards for the remaining students before the commencement of the examination process on March 2. The forgery was detected when CHSE observers reached the college on March 5.
