Sangareddy: Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam has advised the voters to bring some form of photo identity card to cast their votes in the ensuing Council elections. The district with 23, 660 graduates, 3, 232 teachers and 848 local authority voters is ready for the Council elections slated for March 17. The three different electoral colleges have to pick their choice from 26, 6 and 4 contestants respectively through preferential vote. According to the District Election Officer, 116 polling stations in close vicinity of the mandal headquarters have been selected out of which 39 would be common for graduates and teachers, 7 exclusively for teachers, 24 only for graduates and 46 for local authority constituency. Along with garnering sufficient staff to man the polling booths despite the participation of teachers in the elections, the administration has drafted 596 personnel from State and Central services. Two training classes have been conducted in Sangareddy and Siddipet for the staff. Some 12 routes have been formed for hassle free transportation of the polling personnel in three divisions of the district. All the 150 ballot boxes required for the purpose of polling are available with the divisional headquarters. Tahasildars are asked to take up oiling greasing and other repairs on the ballot boxes. Counting of votes will take place only for local authority constituency in the district at the DRDA meeting hall on March 23 pending clearance from the Election Commission of India. However, counting of votes in respect of teachers and graduates constituency will take place in Karimnagar on March 25. Medak Superintendent of Police R. B. Naik has informed that steps for providing bandobast in all routes are taken up and also at reception and counting centres. Despite the pressing requirements of the ongoing Intermediate and ensuing SSC examinations, the strength will be judicially utilised for best results.
