A missed opportunity
THE ORIYA Cultural Festival that began at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Wednesday was exactly not the way a State should showcase its culture in another State at least on the inaugural day.
To begin with, hardly about 200 people attended the programme and only a third of the hall was occupied. But half of them left the venue immediately after the inauguration.
By the time the most interesting of cultural programmes such as Ghumura and Gotipua dances were featured, it was well past 10 p.m. and the number of people in attendance was less than 50.
One of the Oriya film personalities said that many persons from Orissa living in Bangalore may not have been aware of the event.
