Chief Justice's assurance

When a 91-year-old man presented a petition to Chief Justice of the Madras High Court A. P. Shah at a function in Chennai the other day, the assurance given by the latter should have brought a sense of relief to the petitioner.

As the function was drawing to a close, R. Venugopal of Nesapakkam presented a pension-related petition. The Chief Justice, who received it, said the matter was a fit case to go to the pension lok adalat. He went a step further and said he himself would personally look into the petition and see what could be done.

An assurance that must have gladdened the nonagenarian!
