Return of `item girl'

What's common between Jayamalini, Jyothilakshmi, `Halam' , Anuradha and `Disco' Shanthi ? Well, all of them provided the much-needed glamour component- the `item numbers' in films.

The item number trend took a backseat for almost a decade. Some might argue that it was because heroines themselves were made to look and act as glamourous, right ? But it is a fact. Last year, even Raasi who ruled the screens as a heroine did an item number in `Samudram'. And now, ask any college-goer and one name that stands out is `Ippatinka Naa Vayasu Inka Padahre ..' Mumaith `Pokiri' Khan. And then there is Rahasya who was noticed in `Okadunnadu'. `I say enjoy, I am your fun toy' is one that lots of youngsters are humming these days.
