Opt for commerce, poor students told

    HYDERABAD: Self-help is the `mantra' for multifaceted development of the old city. Instead of holding the Government and the political parties responsible, people should be proactive and contribute their mite to solve their problems, according to Mohd Abbas Ali, Professor of Business Management, Osmania University.

    He was speaking after releasing the commerce book for Intermediate students authored by Zehra Fatima, director, Z.F. Education Centre, Dabeerpura, at a function here on Wednesday.

    Prof. Abbas Ali advised the economically poor students to opt for commerce stream after matriculation as it was least expensive and could offer lucrative career opportunities both within and outside the country.

    `Winds of change'

    Zehra Fatima said strong winds of change were blowing in the old city with youth enthusiastic to stake claim to a lion's share of the emerging opportunities in the world of education and work.

    Quality education

    In order to channel the youth resources into right career avenues and turn their dreams into realities, they should be provided with access to good quality education and reading material, she said.

    Tarique Moin, chief career counsellor, IQRA Society for Career Guidance, welcomed the gathering. Seemab Azeem, general secretary, Iqra, proposed a vote of thanks.
