Five robbery cases in city

BANGALORE: Robbers had a field in the city on Wednesday when they robbed three housewives, a student and managing director (MD) of a private company of gold ornaments and vehicles in separate incidents.

Two men tied a housewife with a rope and robbed her gold ornaments at her house in HSR Layout police station limits. The police said that around 11 a.m., two men knocked on the door of Rame Gowda's house at Jayaramareddy Layout in Kasavanahalli. When Mr. Gowda's wife Indira answered the door, the two barged in and threatened her.

After tying her hands and legs with a rope, they robbed her of ornaments. Later, they made away with gold jewellery from the house.

Four men waylaid a student and robbed him of a gold chain and a mobile phone in Yeshwanthapur police station limits.

The police said that around 11 p.m. the robbers stopped Ankit Sharma (21), a BBM student at M.S. Ramaiah College, near Lakshmi cinema in Sanjaynagar. After reliving him of the valuables, they escaped on his motorcycle.

In another incident, robbers kidnapped the managing director of a private company and made away with his car.

The police said that around 10.30 p.m., robbers stopped Nagaraj near East End Circle and got into his car. On reaching Somapura Gate on Kanakapura Road, they pushed him out of his vehicle and sped away.

Employees of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise, who were at work, took Nagaraj, a resident of 2nd Phase, J.P. Nagar, to the Thalaghatapura police station. The Thalaghatapura police registered a case and transferred it to the J.P. Nagar police.

Chains snatched

Around 3 p.m., a youth snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 1.25 lakh from Rama (52) while she was walking on 17th D Cross, II Stage, HAL. He escaped on a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting at a distance, the police said. The Indiranagar police have registered a case.

Around 4 p.m., a man snatched a gold chain from Uma on 15th Cross, Malleswaram. As Uma held the chain firmly, the robber could only snatch a portion of it (about 20 gm), the police said. House burgled

Burglars struck at Shivaraj's house in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits on Wednesday and looted gold ornaments and other valuables. The thieves had entered the house in Chandranagar by breaking open the rear door between 8.30 a.m. and 1.45 p.m.

Cables stolen

Thieves stole aluminium cables estimated at Rs. 50,000 from a lorry in Nelamangala police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police said KPTLC officials had brought aluminium cables in a lorry for electrification work at Ravuthanahalli.

The thieves had made away with cables from the lorry that was stationed at Ravuthanahalli. On a complaint by Manjunath of KPTCL, the Nelamangala police have registered a case.
