Maniyar, a resident of Bijapur, it said, was accused No 20 in the case registered at the Madiwala Police Station and for offences under Sections 255, 256, 258, 260 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The CBI said it was on October 6, 2002, that a suo motu complaint was lodged in the Madiwala Police Station stating that Telgi was operating the fake stamp paper racket from within the jail and Maniyar is one of the accused. Justice Mohan Shantanagouder ordered Maniyar's release on bail on a bond of Rs. 2 lakh and two sureties of a like sum. He was also asked not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses.
