Madikeri: The Centre has released Rs. 50 lakh as compensation to the families of farmers who had committed suicide unable to clear their debts, according to president of the Kodagu District Cooperative Central (KDCC) Bank M.A. Ramesh here on Friday. He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop for presidents of cooperative societies at the Kodagu District Cooperative Union building. It was organised by the union and the Karnataka Marketing Cooperative Federation, Bangalore. It was decided to convene a meeting of families of such farmers in the district to chalk out ways and means to distribute compensation. The meeting decided to enrol members of such families for health care under the Yashasvini scheme.President of the Kodagu District Cooperative Union M.P. Muthappa presided. Managing Director of the KDCC Bank A.C. Divakar spoke.
