`Deve Gowda did not meet Sonia Gandhi'

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday vehemently refuted reports that Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on the Cauvery issue. He said it was a mischievous propaganda.

Tight security

He told presspersons here that Mr. Gowda and Ms. Gandhi were given "Z category" security and their every movement (minute to minute) was recorded.

So there was no question of a secret meeting between them.

The Chief Minister said Mr. Deve Gowda's address on the floor of the Lok Sabha on Thursday and the way in which he convinced Speaker to allow a discussion on Cauvery proved his commitment on the issue.

The Chief Minister said at Thursday's Cabinet meeting, it was decided to appeal before Cauvery tribunal for clarification on its judgment under Article 131 of Inter-State River Disputes Act and also to file a petition before the Supreme Court under Article 136 of the same Act.
