Tirupur Municipality cancels contract

CHENNAI: Tirupur Municipality had cancelled the contract for construction of a vegetable market complex in Tirupur as it had decided to implement a new project that would address requirements of traders, Local Administration Minister M. Responding to the AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa's criticism of the move, Mr Stalin, in a statement, said traders insisted that the entire complex should have only one floor — ground floor. As funding of the project had been arranged under the Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns programme, there was a stipulation that the funds should be utilised within March 31.
