Ban on political activities

Haroon Habib

DHAKA: The caretaker government has slapped a ban on even indoor politics, and warned against any violation with stern measures. The ban followed the arrest of many leading politicians of both the major parties, including Tareq Rahman, son of the former Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia, by army-led joint forces. Yet another top politician, Obaidul Quader, joint general secretary of the Awami League, was arrested on Friday. The Government said the parties were "misusing" its soft line on the political activities.
