Music to the ears....

Smriti Kak Ramachandran

New Delhi : The 17-member Hungarian Virtuosi Orchestra, known for its flawless technical proficiency, will be performing this coming Tuesday at Delhi's Kamani Auditorium. The musical treat for the Capital has been lined up by the Hungarian Information and Culture Centre in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Formed in 1988 by artistic director and violin soloist Miklos Szenthelyi, the Hungarian Virtuosi Orchestra consists of a string of musicians who have built a vast repertoire with emphasis on romantic compositions.

The orchestra has scored numerous successes at its performances both at home and abroad.

It has toured the United States of America, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Guatemala and Costa Rica and done innumerable tours across Europe.

Szenthelyi, who founded the orchestra, graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music with distinction as a pupil of Denes Kovacs. He won the Leo Weiner sonata competition and was the winner of the Hungarian Radio's violin competition in 1975.
