State-level conference

HYDERABAD: A daylong State-level conference of all Chairpersons of Agricultural Market Committees will be held at the Institute of Cooperative Management at Rajendernagar here on March 23.

The meet will discuss subjects like creating awareness on agricultural marketing, Central and State sponsored schemes/ programmes like Technology Mission on cotton and jute, modernisation of agricultural markets and strengthening of market infrastructure in tribal and interior areas. - Special Correspondent

Post-matric scholarships released

HYDERABAD: Joint Collector of Hyderabad N. Mukteswara Rao has said that the Minorities Welfare Department has released Rs. 67,42,875 towards post-matric scholarships covering 2,579 students of 147 colleges.

Heads of institutions should depute authorised personnel to collect the cheques and sanction lists from District Minorities Welfare Officer, Hyderabad district, sixth floor, Haj House, Nampally. - Staff Reporter

Exam fee: BRAOU extends last date

HYDERABAD: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University has extended the last date for payment of examination fee of BA, B.Com and B.Sc. up to March 16. The final year degree examination will be held from May 6 to 11 while the second year examination will be held from May 19 to 24. The first year degree examination will be conducted from May 28 to 31. - Staff Reporter

`Debar Masala Eeranna'

HYDERABAD: Ranga Reddy DCC president K.M. Pratap has demanded that leaders like Masala Eranna should be debarred from the party for levelling baseless and false allegations against party chief K. Keshava Rao.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Mr. Pratap said Mr. Eranna, a frequent defector, had no moral right to point a finger at Dr. Rao. He also violated the party discipline by securing MLC ticket for his daughter on behalf of the TDP. - Special Correspondent

6 Congress activists injured in clash

KADAPA: Six persons were injured when rival Congress groups clashed with bombs and stones in Aravetipalle in Muddanur mandal on Friday evening. The followers of Aravetipalle sarpanch Venkatesh and Jayarama Naidu who were at loggerheads over construction of a house clashed. The police recovered two unexploded bombs and registered a case. - Staff Reporter

AIDS patient commits suicide

KADAPA: An AIDS patient Seshappa of P. Ramapuram village in Brahmamgari Matham mandal committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Friday.

After doctors performed tests in Kadapa on Seshappa and confirmed that he contracted AIDS, he consumed pesticide in Badvel, according to Brahmamgari Matham sub-inspector Ramulu. Seshappa died at the Kadapa Government hospital. - Staff Reporter

Infant's body found in drain

Nizamabad: A female infant's body was recovered from a drain near Darshan Talkies in Kamareddy town on Friday. The body was half eaten by dogs and pigs, according to information reaching here. - Staff Reporter
