Observer named for social club poll

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI : A former Judge of the Supreme Court has been appointed as an independent observer to oversee elections in the Theyagaraya Nagar Social Club here.

The First Bench comprising Chief Justice A.P. Shah and Justice K. Chandru passed the order appointing Justice S. Natarajan, on a petition filed by Sinora Ashok and M.S. Karthikeya Balaji seeking appointment of a neutral observer to ensure free, fair and transparent conduct of elections. The Bench clarified that if Mr. Justice Natarajan, who himself is a member of the Club, was not available for the job, then it would appoint someone else in whose presence the elections must be held.
